Do wind turbines harm birds?

Although collisions of birds with wind turbines can occur, the impacts are minor compared to other human-made hazards. Nationally, about one to four birds are affected per facility per year. For comparison, house cats and glass surfaces on buildings pose much greater dangers to birds. Moreover, strict environmental protection regulations are adhered to in the planning of wind turbines to protect sensitive bird populations.
