Does the expansion of wind energy endanger the security of supply?

No, the expansion of wind energy does not endanger the security of supply. On the contrary, renewable energies, including wind power, are already an essential part of the power supply in Germany. In the first half of 2019, renewable energies covered about 44% of German electricity consumption. The use of modern storage technologies and intelligent grid control systems can optimally address the variable electricity production from wind and sun. Additionally, Germany has a stable and highly developed electricity grid that ensures the distribution of energy from various sources. International studies and the German power supply itself prove that a stable energy supply is possible even with a high share of renewable energies such as wind and sun. Thanks to these innovations, electricity can be used even when the wind is not blowing.
